Baby card

There have been lots of baby's born over the last few weeks so I have been getting back into baby cards. I saw this cute card on Maile Belles site (did I mention I love her clean and simple style - I always want to add more but she definitely nails the less is more idea).  I have several stamp sets with little baby icons so thought they would be perfect to put together like this.  I made one in blue and one in pink but forgot to take the photo before I gave it away.  Will have to make another.  Love the end result.

Monochromatic magic

It has been so long since I have had a chance to get creative.  With sickness and the winter blues {my scrap corner is in the coldest space}  I haven't had the chance or the motivation.  So now things are a little more on track I just had to get back my mojo.  What better way than getting out the folder of card ideas that I had recently put together and do some CASEing (copy and share everything and clean and simple).  It certainly got the creative juices flowing and I now have some more cards to add to the collection.  So motivating.  Definitely back in the zone!

Stamps: happy birthday (kaiser), background basics retro (PTI)
Finishing touches: red tag sale alpha die (cuttlebug), foam dots

Inspired by design

I can never go to far without being inspired by something. I find it particularly helpful for coming up with ideas for male cards. I am always checking out my boys shirts for ideas as you can see here and here. This card was inspired by one of my husbands. It wasn't until I found Fiskars layer away stamp set that I was able to put it together how I wanted. I realise as I write that I should have taken a photo of the shirt but he's wearing it. {Will have to update this one}. It really gets the creative juices flowing pulling out stamps and colours to try and recreate something using what you have.

Colours: going grey, basic black, very vanilla, tempting turquoise, garden green
Stamps: layer away variety (fiskars), all about me (kaiser), circle of friendship (SU)
Finishing touches: stamps die (cuttlebug), pop dots, brown sugar embossing powder (american crafts)

Christmas cards

After stressing last year about getting cards made and putting together our family letter for the year I was determined that I would get ahead of myself and not be doing it at the last minute. But wouldn't you know I was actually later this year and just got them posted before Christmas. The big difference I guess has been that I didn't stress about it. I just got them done when I was able to do it. Next year however I am determined to learn my lesson. You heard it here.

I actually had a lot of fun putting together my card for this year. I wanted something different. I love looking at all the creations as I blog hop but I can't bring myself to do a winter christmas card with the snowflakes and snowmen etc. So it had to be kiwi. One of the things that sticks out for me at Christmas time is the pohutakawa as it comes in to flower in December, especially now that we have a fabulous tree in our entrance. So when I came across the pohutakawa stamp at Kiwi Impressions it got me thinking. I wanted to keep it fairly simple so carried on the pacific theme by creating a flax look background and the paua to finish it off.

Colours: crumb cake, cherry cobbler, wild wasabi
Stamps: pohutakawa (KI), wavy christmas sentiment (elzybells)
Finishing touches: texture plate basketweave (fiskars), stamps die (cuttlebug), red glitter, linedn thread (SU), paua shell (ocean shell beads)
