Seeing Stars

Time for another card.  Having put together all my favourite card ideas from past catalogues and magazines it makes it easy to pick something when you feel like being creative but draw a blank for ideas.  This one is a CASE from a magazine article by Jennifer Mcquire.  I love trying to recreate an idea using the stash you have.

Colours:  bashful blue, tangerine tango, certainly celery
Stamps: classic stars wheel (SU)
Finishing touches: white embossing powder, star punch, felt, rick rack border die (PTI), rhinestones

Yes another baby card

It all started with a paper from My Minds Eye. The colours came together from here. I wanted to use my baby tees stampin around wheel and teamed it up with a new cuttlebug alpha die. I was going to go for glitter but stumbled on my felt collection and decided it was a better look. Will have to go back to the glitter though as I think it will work well with the alpha die.

Colours: very vanilla, taken with teal, early espresso, certainly celery, wild wasabi
Stamps: baby tees and all in the stars (SU)
Finishing touches: felt, red tag sale alpha die (cuttlebug), stitching, buttons, copper embossing powder, island indigo ruffled ribbon

Inspired by design

I love the combination of black, red and white. I definitely can't wear red so I enjoy using it in my cards. As red is a common colour in advertising I seem to see ideas everywhere that I want to use. I teamed up the simple sentiment with an embellishment made from felt. The stars finished it off.

Colours: black, shite, cherry cobbler
Stamps: happy birthday (kaiser)
Finsihing touches: white embossing powder, felt, star punches, stitching

August Stamp Club Challenge

I normally leave my challenges to the last week and sometimes the night before but I having got more organized I have been getting on to them earlier and earlier. This time it was to create a masculine card. These ones came about from inspiration and I just had to try them out. The first was from one of my sons shirts, they have several with camouflage on them. The second was from a bible cover that I saw. I have to say that this seems to have become very much a part of my style and a personal challenge. See something and try to recreate it using what I have. It ultimately leads to a desire to create the stamps that I need.

Colours: basic grey, going grey, red, white
Stamps: birthday whimsy, oh so lovely (SU)
Finishing touches: felt, vintage brad (SU), red thread, red embossing powder, distressing tool, colour spritzer

Colour: pumpkin pie, chocolate chip, old olive, white
Stamps: small pieces, baroque motifs, friendship blooms, vintage labels
Finishing touches: stitched ribbon, designer label punch, colour spritzer tool

Flower fun

I have been wanting to have a go at some felt flowers since I got templates from Chris at Scraptacular. I finally got around to it and this is what I came up with using the colours I had. With the detail in the flowers I kept the rest very simple. I love the whimsical words stamp set from stampn up

Scrapbooking fun

Going away for the weekend I debated over whether to take some pages with me as I never seem to get too much done. And I never know what to take. Sooooo glad I did. Despite a busy weekend with one night and some afternoon sleep time for the little one with his brothers away fishing I managed to put together 5 pages. Part of the challenge was only using what I had taken with me. This was all thanks to some great new stamps I have from Kaiser (journal blocks CS703 and all about me CS711) and my new favourite embellishment the bracket. I have also been hooked on to Page maps where I got the sketch for the first layout 'stones'. I have downloaded the map archives and have them on hand for creating layouts. Love them! I really enjoyed putting together the memories and getting back into my journalling.

A special birthday

A very special lady indeed. My Mum. We went down this Easter so we could celebrate her 60th. She certainly deserved something very special for al the amazing things that she has done for us over the years. I really enjoyed putting this one together. Mum loves flourishes and flowers so I made sure to include both. The design is an easel card from a design we did at stamp club, (which if you google will lead to loads of examples and instructions on how to make them).

Colours: basic grey, rose red, barely banana, very vanilla
Stamps: impressions (Bella!) , sense of time, vintage labels and baroque motifs (SU)
Finishing touches: pearls (Kaiser), stylized flowers embossing folder (cuttlebug), designer label punch, felt border (Bella!) dazzling diamonds and silver embossing powder (SU)

When things come together

I have been making cards for our kindy to use and sell and I was approached by one of the teachers to make something a little different. They wanted something to give someone to let them know we were thinking of them. I said I would see what I could come up with. That morning a friend told me about a sales table at Spotlight and I managed to sneak in a few minutes before I picked up my son from kindy. I had to dig through to see what was there and happened upon this stamp set and coordinating felt border by Bella! Then found the sentiment stamp. They seemed to fit well. Card sorted

Colours: white, chocolate chip, rose red
Stamps: beautiful things (kaisercraft), bella blvd clear stamps,
Finishing touches: fiskars apron lace border punch, stylized flowers cuttlebug embossing folder, felt border (Bella), dazzling diamonds glitter (SU)

Back in business

Finally have made some time to get back to what I love. My scrapbooking! Scraptacular event was such a great chance to get reinspired with different ideas. I had organised a few of the boys pages a while ago and I have been itching to try some of the new things. I was certainly a little rusty but once I got going I had lots of fun. The boy pages I picked up at Jackies scrapbooking in Inglewood worked well and I love the Kaiser journalling stamps that I got from spotlight. Thanks to Chris for her demos with felt, I went and got some to try. I even dug out my threads and did some stitching. Click on the photos to see details.
