Baby cards

Whenever I have been away from scrapping for a while, making a card seems to get me back into the swing of things.  With a couple of friends having babies it was the perfect chance to get creative.  These bits and pieces haven't been out in a while so it was fun seeing what I could come up with.  I started with the girls card and once I had the design, adapted the colours and images for a boy.

Starting with my supplies

Having sorted and resorted my supplies with the move out to the studio I am using what I have and more importantly what I love.  So I am on the look out when I am at craft stores for new things to add to what I have.  I picked up this Kaiser sticker sheet and added it to a set of project life cards that I had.  Usually I start with my photos but this time I had the colours so then searched for photos that worked with it.  I kept it fairly simple.  Definitely a different colour combo for me to work with.

Project of the Week

Of all my Use it or Lose it projects this one has been a favourite.  This is a favourite colour combo of mine and I still like the papers that were in the set.  But it is time for a clear out and the last of the papers would have continued to sit there if I hadn't done something with them.  When I was away on my crop weekend we all got scrapping magazines in our goody bags and some had free papers included.  The colour match was perfect.  The bonus was also using the Kaiser word stamps that I had purchased some time ago and have been keeping for another project that I have.

Cards for sale

There have been a number of craft markets about New Plymouth that some of my crafting friends have had tables at.  When I got into stamping and cardmaking I bought products with the intention to sell cards that I had made.  Apart from making some for friends and my husbands work I haven't really made that many and branched any further into the market.  Seems like enough to keep up with making cards to give.  Anyway after being asked whether I wanted to have some cards to sell I put together what I had and made a stack more.

I started with repeats of cards that I had made.  You can see the originals here and here.

And as the boy cards were few and far between I pulled out some boy products and picked a colour combo and had a play.

Colours:  white, basic grey, baja breeze, pacific point
Stamps:  kids zone (kaiser), itty bitty banners (SU),notes (studio g)
Finishing touches:  paper clip embellishments (unknown) , papers (various), star punch, notebook die (verve), banner die (SU), washi tape, circle punch, rub ons (rasberry), stars embossing folder (craft concepts), chevron embossing folder (SU)

Needless to say my cards didn't sell.  I had a chance to use them again at a ladies night fundraiser through our school.  I put together more of my organisation side of things and with my recent clean outs added a discount basket of supplies that was all but empty at the end of the night.  There is definitely a lot more to putting together a table for sales than just putting out your product.  What I did learn is that it isn't what I want to get into.  I will still make cards for sale but not for markets.  And my card stash is rather healthy.

Wedding card

I have made a few wedding cards in the past.  I tend to get out all my wedding related stamps and start from there.  This card started with the handmade paper.  I decided to keep the colours neutral and go all out with the details.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - Card sneak peek

My Christmas card list seems to get bigger every year. While I plan to get onto my cards early in the year so I know they are done it hasn't happened. I had an idea started from this card by Maile Belles and I bit the bullet, put aside some other things that need doing and got into it. I was pleasantly surprised to find they didn't take that long and I enjoyed putting them together.  Now to do the year in review letter that goes with it.  I will post the final result when they have been posted out.

Baby card

There have been lots of baby's born over the last few weeks so I have been getting back into baby cards. I saw this cute card on Maile Belles site (did I mention I love her clean and simple style - I always want to add more but she definitely nails the less is more idea).  I have several stamp sets with little baby icons so thought they would be perfect to put together like this.  I made one in blue and one in pink but forgot to take the photo before I gave it away.  Will have to make another.  Love the end result.

Page Maps Anniversary Challenge - 1-2-3-4 Challenge

Page Maps 7th Anniversary Celebration

A card challenge this time.

Use the sketch and the number of elements to create your card.
I started with the colours.  The patterned paper that I found set the rest of the card.  I found my stash of vellum and have been using it more lately.  I liked how it softened the pattern allowing it to show through.  A solid layer would have covered a lot of it up

A series of cards

We headed away for some of the holidays. I had only a bit of time to put together something to take away with me. I am so glad that I did. It is so much easier now that I have a bag set to go.  It was a chance to catch up with some cards to fill the gaps that I had.

This one was an extra I did from the bits and pieces I had from the baby cards for sale

I had a few girls to make cards for so I used one of my Stampin Up pics from my ideas folder as inspiration.

The new washi tapes that I had purchased were screaming to be put togther in a card.  I found a stamp that I have been wanting for some time (dandelion) so I put them together for this card.

Washi tape is a new thing for me so I am trying it out in all sorts of ways.  A similar card was on display at Craft Haven so I thought I would give it a go.  Works well for a male card.
