Baby cards

Whenever I have been away from scrapping for a while, making a card seems to get me back into the swing of things.  With a couple of friends having babies it was the perfect chance to get creative.  These bits and pieces haven't been out in a while so it was fun seeing what I could come up with.  I started with the girls card and once I had the design, adapted the colours and images for a boy.

Colours:  brocade blue, pumpkin pie, white
Stamps: baby (kaiser), storytime alpha (CDS), parateddy (elzybells)
Finishing touches:  striped ribbon (SU), wood veneers, letter sticker, stitching, paper (unknown)

Farewell cards

On a sadder note.  We have been farewelling friends. Our amazing family ministries pastor at church is moving to Auckland for more adventures.  So I had the opportunity to make cards for her from our home group and for her hubby from ICONZ - the boys brigade group that our boys go to. I love being able to do cards that are specific to the person that is receiving them.  I managed to catch a photo of one of the cards and am gutted that I didn't take one of the other.  For both I started with a dictionary page word.  This one is taken from this card on my cards for him board on Pinterest.

Colours:  white, not quite navy, tangerine tango, black
Stamps:  monster mash (CDS), happy trails (PTI), notes (studio G)
Finishing touches:  dictionary page, for the record paper (EP), stitching, dimensionals, speech bubbles punch (EKS), rockies edging scissors

And another farewell card was needed for someone at my Husbands work.  I kept the same theme going with the dictionary page and was inspired by the new Stampin Up mini catalogue pg 10, to use dots and the colours.

Cards for boys

With birthday season upon us it was time to make some more cards.  I had pinned this card on my cards for him board on Pinterest and it was an easy option for a quick card.

I used the wrapping paper for the colours.  The bright maze puzzle stood out on the black.
Colours: red, black, silver
Stamps: lots of spots (CDS), Birthday bash sentiments (PTI)
Finishing touches: maze puzzle, silver and red embossing powders

The next cards were inspired by a design on one of my boy's t-shirts
Stamp the image directly onto the page.  Stamp another image onto white and colour.  Crop pieces of the coloured image and use dimensionals to lift off the page.

Baby Cards

It has been a while since I made cards for my husbands work social club for giving. They needed two baby cards. One is a boy and the other is due but they are leaving it a surprise.  I enjoy coming up with colour combos that are a little different.

I got out my baby bits and pieces.  This card started with some chipboard baby shapes.  I matched up some papers and I was away.  Some of my favourite elements stitching, buttons and it was done

Colours:  taken with teal, crumb cake, chocolate chip
Stamps: parateddy (EB), whimsical words (SU), grid (kaiser)
Finishing touches:  cappuchino bakers twine (the twinery), chipboard shapes (unknown), ribbon, buttons, stitching, copper embossing powder (AC), uppper crest border punch (fiskars)

The next one also started with the abc chipboard/sticker. Always a little tricker going gender neutral.  I found some papers that went with and built up the details from there.

Colours: very vanilla, not quite navy, riding hood red, sage shadow
Stamps:  giraffe patchpals (CDS), postmarks (PTI), baby (kaiser)

CASEing my ideas book

With lots of birthday's in March my stash of cards needs topping up. I have a collection of my favourites from catalogues and magazines that I often use for inspiration.

This one is almost an exact replica from a sample in the Stampin Up Ideas Catalogue.  I have heard it said that it is hard to copy something when you don't have all the same supplies or tools.  That is a lot of the challenge for me.  How much I can recreate using what I have.  Sometimes it is just the colour combo or the layout and other times I substitute the images.
Colours:  old olive, chocolate chip, bashful blue, white, cherry cobbler
Stamps: wise owl (PTI), lots of spots (CDS)
Finishing touches:  circle cutters (CM), brad, grosgrain ribbon and spiral punch (SU)

Here is another idea from the Stampin Up Ideas Catalogue.  I had a similar stamp and changed out the colours a little.
Colours:  baja breeze, cherry cobbler, not quite navy, white
Stamps:  itty bitty bits (SU), stylish sentiments - birthday(PTI)
Finishing touches: circle punches (SU), ribbon

A new baby set

I have had lots of opportunities lately to come up with new ideas for baby cards. And they keep on coming. I picked up the kaiser stamp set 'baby' on sale. I love circular sentiments as you can build them together in different ways. I am definitely rusty as I kept changing my mind with what I wanted to do.

Colours: rose red, pink pirouette, white
Stamps: patchpals giraffe (CDS), retro backgrounds and tiny tags (PTI)
Finishing touches: spellbinder label 2 die (nestibilities), argyle embossing folder (cuttlebug), tag punch, pink sorbet bakers twine (the twinery), button, stitching

Scrapping Day

After having a turn with some of my supplies the suggestion was made that I put together a class for our kids during the school holidays. It was a lot of fun seeing what I could come up with. It was a fabulous day. The kids did really well with the different things and we had a lot of fun.

A gift for keeps

I have been busy making baby cards and I added to that a photo frame for two special babies born on the same day. I love giving practical gifts but wanted to give them something that they could keep as well.
