Vintage Labels from Papertrey

I actually made these cards before Christmas. My new goodies arrived from Papertrey which included the vintage labels stamp set. I try and have at least one play before putting new things away. It works with the Labels one nestibilities die. I used the cards from Stampin Up IB&C 2009-2010 on page 75 as inspiration.

Colours: very vanilla, cajun craze, not quite navy
Stamps: inspired by nature and lots of thoughts (SU) vintage labels and retro backgrounds (PTI)
Finishing touches: labels one spellbinders (nestibilities), twill tape, button, faux stitching

Especially for you

I love creating cards for someone special. It gives me the chance to put together things that relate to them. This one was for a special crafty lady who comes up with wonderful ideas each month at stamp club. Happy birthday Cherie at Creative AddINKtion. Time to spoil you for a change.
The inspiration started from a recent purchase of Ali Edwards stamp sets. You can find them at Technique Tuesday here . I got mine through 123 stitch . Such great sentiments and I love the different fonts. I enjoyed putting it all together.

Colours: baja breeze, calypso coral, blush blossom
Stamps: simply you (technique tuesday), friendship stampin wheel (SU), notebook paper and rounded rectangle die (verve)
Finishing touches: paper fashions (klutz), in colour ribbon, beautiful wings embosslits (SU)< buttons, stitching

A new baby set

I have had lots of opportunities lately to come up with new ideas for baby cards. And they keep on coming. I picked up the kaiser stamp set 'baby' on sale. I love circular sentiments as you can build them together in different ways. I am definitely rusty as I kept changing my mind with what I wanted to do.

Colours: rose red, pink pirouette, white
Stamps: patchpals giraffe (CDS), retro backgrounds and tiny tags (PTI)
Finishing touches: spellbinder label 2 die (nestibilities), argyle embossing folder (cuttlebug), tag punch, pink sorbet bakers twine (the twinery), button, stitching

So good to get back into my space for a bit. Another birthday card required. Done! Still getting the hang of using my nestabilities.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #121

It has been a long time since I have had a go at one of Karen Giron's sketch challenges. So this week after checking out the challenge I got to and made one. It all started with the patterned paper that I would use if I found the right button. Of course the added challenge is to get it photographed and onto the blog. I was all sorted with that and planned on getting the card to the birthday girl the next day so I could then put it on the blog as she will probably see it here. But alas I left it on the desk and so it didn't get there. It's a good thing that her birthday isn't til next week so I haven't missed it. But happy birthday Steph! this ones on its way to you.

A great sketch to play with. You can check out what others have done here. Hope to play along again more regularly.

Colours: very vanilla, basic black
Stamps: best yet (SU)
Finishing touches: deb divine embossing folder (cuttlebug), spellbinder labels one (nestibilities), circle cutter (creative memories), apron lace border punch (fiskars), button, linen thread, stitching, black embossing powder, photo anchor and brad

A card for sale

I often get asked how do I come up with the cards that I make. Usually it starts with a bit of inspiration. This one is for a lady at my husbands work who is leaving. As his social club buys them from me I like to make sure they are well thought out. It started with wanting to use my new spellbinder nestie Labels 1 and using one of the flower patterns that we made at stamp club. I came up with the idea of a quilted look with the squares and the DSP fitted well. It was then a case of fitting other colours and going through my stash to pull out stamps and embellishments to match. Voila! A bit here and a find there.

Colours: chocolate chip, very vanilla, certainly celery
Stamps: natural beauty (SU), impressions (bella!), grid (Kaiser)
Finishing touches: scallop posy flower, , pearls (kaiser), spellbinder labels 1, pear pizzazz stitched-poly ribbon and vintage brad (SU), faux stitching

October Stamp Club

With the holidays, stamp club crept up a little too quickly. The challenge was to create a card using a stamp that you haven't inked before. I intended to go through my stampn up collection and sort it but it didn't quite happen. This is a birthday card that I made for a super stamper and awesome friend, and as it is a new stamp I guess it kinda counts. It is from the collection that I got recently from Elzybells closing down sale. And now that my second order has arrived and is sorted ready to go I now have many more new stamps to play with.

I got my inspiration from the colours in a house and garden mag that I picked up from the 24 hour booksale in New Plymouth. Great to get you started

Colours: rich razzleberry, crumb cake, whisper white, pretty in pink, almost amethyst
Stamps: stamp n scrap and sentiments (elzybells) and bud basics (SU)
Finishing touches: spellbinders labels 2, upper crest border punch (fiskars), faux stitching, rich razzleberry polka dot ribbon (SU), button, linen thread

Sympathy card

The inspiration for this card came from a bed of flowers that I often pass as I head into New Plymouth. It is a mass of white flowers with peach coloured poppy type flowers. I thought it fitted well with the muted tones while still adding a bit a colour. I also had the chance to use my spellbinder Label Two for the first time. Despite them having been around for some time spellbinder nestibilities dies have been on the one day wish list. They really are a great tool to turn a card from fair to fab

Colours: orange, very vanilla, white
Stamps: oh so lovely and inspired by nature (SU), alpha (unknown)
Finishing touches: apron lace punch, cotton twill tape, spellbinders nestibilities 2, White embossing powder.
