Big Idea Festival Day Seven - Big Photos

I have been seeing a lot of pages done with big photos as the focal point of the layout.  I decide to go with the photo as the whole background.  I had lots of challenges with this one simple as it looks.  Still learning the ropes with digital.  In the end I called it finished and then remembered that I should save it first before making it into a jpeg image because you can't go back and change it.  The journalling is hard to read.  You can read it here as it is from a post that I did.

I realise as I have been doing the challenges that I need to get on to printing more recent photos. Definitely on the top of the priority list.

Big Idea Festival Day 6 - Get Real

Cathy Zielske challenged us to get real.  We look at others life and works and feel like we  can never measure up.  The reality is that we get to edit and show what we want others to see.  Often we don't get to see what they aren't doing and what else is happening in their lives.  Time to get real with each other.  Live is messy.  Make it a part of your story.  You can read more about my story here.

Loving my new space

One of the words for the Big Idea Festival was Wonder. It had me stumped for a bit til I was inspired by my recent additions to my scrapbooking space. Click on the images to see details. Working in digital I had been at the computer and hadn't actually had a chance to try it out. I have since had a session scrapping and cardmaking. And I love it! Just having a little bit more space to work on is great as I'm not tripping over myself. Look what I came up with here and here.

More Pages from the Big Idea Festival

So after a few late nights I have completed the Big Picture Scrapbooking, Big Idea Festival. 12 days - 12 words - 12 layouts. You can see my other pages here. Such a great opportunity to try out digital a bit more and see what others came up with. Amazing the difference in design and interpretation of the different words. Wishing now that I had got the kit and done it as a mini album. It had some great elements in it. Some great ideas for next time. I have been checking out some of their other classes. So many great ones to choose from. A wealth of talented teachers.

Big Idea Festival

I am loving being a part of the Big Idea Festival at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Not too late if you want to play along. Click on the image on the right hand side bar for info. I love getting new inspiration for pages. The idea is a mini book of pages using words to inspire you. These are my first pages. I decided to do them digitally as I could use the pictures that I wanted to. Looking forward to doing more.

Time for some pages

With everyone in holiday mode for the next two weeks we quickly get into a routine of sleep ins and staying up later at night. Its great for spending time with the boys but not so much for getting creative. So having made a number of cards I was keen to put together some pages. Heres where I love digital pages. My favourites are of everyday moments that I manage to capture. I have been making a point this year to write down the details of what we do in my diary. Even better when I put the story together with the photos.

The elements I have used were from the Jessica Sprague blog hop that I played along with recently.

Jessica Sprague Blog Hop

Always surprised what you stumble across in blog land. As I was blog hopping I came across an amazing blog hop by Jessica Sprague. Loads of inspiration and freebies. Not long to go but well worth a look if you are a digital scrapper. Here is one of the quick pages by Heather Landry. I thought I would have a play. Still getting used to using the programme, but still quick.

Everyday moments

Another page{click on the layout to enlarge}. Loving how I can pull together the photos I want, resize and I am away. These everyday moments are becoming my favourites to scrap. Sure we get birthdays and other big events but the little things are just as much part of our story.
With having a go at digital scrapbooking I have been checking out some of the freebies available. The joys of google allow you to search for what you are wanting. I started here at Free Digital Scrapbooking for papers and some embellishments. I am certainly getting hooked and can see after what is available what all the excitement is about.

Dabbling in digital

I have been considering having a look into the world of digital scrapbooking and have finally taken the plunge and had a look at what is available. I love the fact that you can use recent photos and size them to what you want. The biggest question is the quality when printing them out and how they fear with age. What I have come to realise is that there are so many different ways to tell your story. When I started scrapbooking I was going to scrap all my photos! Then I entered the world of digital and like many people I talk to was quickly overwhelmed with how big a job that would be. I have come back to much simpler layouts {using white backgrounds and less embellishments} to bring the focus back to the story. It may be that instead of photo albums I have CD albums. I am enjoying my scrapbooking so much more. Mainly because I am doing something. And I still get to play with all those fabulous products and techniques when I make my cards. After all if you aren't enjoying it then its just another chore.
