{Inter} National Scrapbooking Day

So glad that I was able to get involved again this year.  Gets me motivated to get scrapping again.  Along with several Story Stamp layouts I completed these cards and layouts for the various challenges.

This time last year I was getting back into my teaching.  I managed to do a little scrapping for {Inter}National Scrapbooking Day.  My crafting time since has been few and far between as I have got back into working so I love the opportunity to get back into things with the inspiration from the challenges on the day.

{Inter}national Scrapbooking Day

Well I got there with some layouts for {Inter}national Scrapbooking Day.  I have been focused on getting back to teaching and this term saw me complete a Teacher Refresher Course so I haven't been doing anything else.  It was a nice break to do something for me.

Here is what I came up with using the challenges.

I think this has to be the longest 'since I last wrote' post.  I have said in the past, if I am not here it doesn't mean I'm not scrapping just that I haven't the time to tell you about it.  Add to that the computer set up to post makes it difficult to do so.  Anyway enough excuses.  {Inter}national Scrapbooking Day is the perfect motivator for getting back into it.  This Saturday May 7th.  Made sure I put it on the calendar this year as I almost missed it last time.

This challenge was the Project Life style pockets with a twist.  This year I want to keep on top of my pictures and stories and am opting for the pocket style pages.  I got as far as putting in the photos for this challenge and need to go back and add the extras!

{Inter}National Scrapbooking Day

Well May has all of a sudden crept up on me.  With the first day of soccer I realised we were into May and wondered if it was in fact Scrapbooking Day as it is usually at the start of May.  In fact it is the first weekend of May and so here I am checking out what is happening around the web.  Good thing New Zealand is a day ahead so I can get a bit of a heads up before the challenges start.  Here are the ones that I have been a part of in the past.  Some of the formats have changed, but certainly not the fun.

Big Picture Classes

Any excuse to scrap.  Love getting my stories told.  And my photos that I had organised are all printed and ready for pick up.  Must make a note in my diary to spread the word earlier and get others to join me!

 

 

Wish big

Making cards for special people rates high on my crafting things I love and you get to add special touches that are unique to the person that you are giving them to.  And as I make them I am thinking of and praying for the person that I make it for.

The idea for these cards came from this card from Danielle Flanders and this one by Maggie Holmes from a Studio Calico Kit that I had pinned on my pinterest board Cards for Her.  Great to have inspiration at your fingertips, especially when you haven't been creating for a while and are in a bit of a rut.  I used my alpha die from Papertrey Ink to recreate the WISH tag effect.  I had a couple of cards to make and decided to use the cut out letters to create another card rather than throw away or drop them in the bottom of a pile somewhere.  The washi tape made it super simple to do.

Colours: very vanilla, baja breeze, calypso coral, blushing bride
Stamps:  stylish sentiments - birthday and happy trails (PTI), sketchy flourishes (inkadinkadoo)
Finishing touches:  paper and ruffled ribbon (SU), watercolouring, rhinestones, headline alpha die (PTI), stitching, eyelet sticker, flower embellishment (rosies studio), essentials hardward clip (SU), washi tape
